SOFTPAW VINTAGE x INNER GRANDMA DIY KIT
Meet Taylor Randal, founder of @softpawvintage, a Portland-based brand of up-cycled clothing crafted from vintage textiles. She recently gathered with some makers to try out our new DIY Kit and we're obsessed with everything they made.
Q: How do you describe what you do, and how did you start doing it?
I run Softpaw Vintage, which is an upcycling, reworking brand out of vintage textiles, from quilts to tablecloths to towels—I'll work with just about anything. It started in 2019. I had made myself a quilt jacket, and I'd wear it out on the town, and people would be like, "Oh my God, I love that jacket." The pandemic hit, my grandma gave me her Montgomery Ward sewing machine, and I had a stack of old quilts. I was like, "Well, maybe I'll try and make a couple of jackets just to cover my rent." And then it kind of grew faster than I could keep up with.
Q: What do you get out of making things with your hands?
I don't want to be dramatic, but I can't think of a word other than purpose. Since I was little, making stuff with my hands and seeing something come to life, whether it's making a little tiny stick village in the mud or crocheting…I just feel more like myself when I'm making. I feel more whole, and life makes sense.
Q: How do you hope the Inner Grandma kit we’ve created together inspires people?
To branch out and try something new. My vision is everyone opening the kits and sharing the experience together.
Dye Kween x Inner Grandma Flower Power Babydoll Tee
Amanda, aka Dye Kween, takes flowers from her own garden and turns them into something you can actually wear. This month she teamed up with Inner Grandma on a limited edition Baby Tee, naturally dyed using her signature sustainable flower dye technique, and honestly it might be the most Inner Grandma thing we've ever made.
Small batch. Flower dyed. One-of-a-kind.
When it's gone, it's gone.

Become a Maker
The Inner Grandma Maker Program is about celebrating the people behind what’s made. We partner with artists, crafters and creative thinkers who believe in slowing down, with intention and share the joy of making with others.
We’re especially interested in partnerships that highlight process, care and community. That might look like a limited product, a craft kit, a recipe or a product feature, a workshop or sharing the story behind your work.
At the core this program exists to make creativity feel accessible again. Less pressure and more presence.
If that resonates, we’d love to hear from you!
